QUESTION:
When is the best time to water my garden?
ANSWER:
Your garden should be watered in the early mornings or late afternoon to prevent unnecessay evaporation and water wastage. Avoid watering after dark as this encourages fungal growth.

QUESTION:
What can I do to improve water retention in my Soil?
ANSWER:
There are two products specifically designed to increase water retention, namely Efecto Stockosorb and Aquasoil. Both are enviromentally friendly products and fertilizes the soil as wel. Both these products will save you up to 50% water usage.

QUESTION:
How can I keep my soil moist for longer without having my soil exposed to direct sunlight?
ANSWER:
Plant groundcovers to cover such areas from direct sun. Mulch such as bark can also be used to keep the soil moist for longer.

QUESTION:
I would like to design a waterwise garden. Is there any characteristics that indicates a plant is water wise.?
ANSWER:
Whatch out for plants that are either needle-like, fleshe, hairy, waxy, light coloured and have leaves which are folding or culing. These plants are naturally adapted to save water.

QUESTION:
I am a new gardener and would like to know where to start in setting out my new garden?
ANSWER:
Make a rough sketch of your garden and talk to our many experts, preferably between Monday and Friday when they have more time. They will be able to create a winning garden for you!

QUESTION:
Which Indoor plants do you recommend will save me water?
ANSWER:
Plant Dracaenas and Yuccas. These specimen plants will save you up to 50% on water usage. Do not forget you succulent and cacti specimens as well.

QUESTION:
I do not have enough time to spend hours in my garden. What can I plant to make gardening easier?
ANSWER:
Ground covers make beautiful displays in your garden, and do not require a lot of work. Ask our Horticulturists for the ground covers that will be best for your garden.

QUESTION:
Why should I use compost in my garden?
ANSWER:
Compost adds live organisms to the soil, helps replenish lost nutrients that have been depleted by your plants, builds up sandy soil and breaks down clay soil.

QUESTION:
How often should I feed my indoor plants?
ANSWER:
Indoor plants need to be fed more often as they are restricted to the container in which they are planted. You should feed your plants every 4 - 6 weeks.

QUESTION:
Why does one have to take dead flowers off plants?
ANSWER:
Because plants reproduce through flowering, by removing the flowers, they will continue to flower for longer.
